UPDATE: Go-Kart Racing Rained Out

South Buxton Raceway is hosting a new go-kart series, but the recent rainfall is delaying the start of the season.

Tonight's scheduled races have been postponed because of poor conditions due to the rain.

When it does start up, Promoter Sherry Lemesurier says there will be five age-restricted classes plus a non-competitive starters' class for first-time drivers.

"They all run for fun and for trophies; it could be our potential racers out at Buxton," says Lemesurier. "We're not trying to take anything from anybody. We're just trying to give the kids another place to run."

Lemesurier says about 25 racers showed up for the first practice at the track. The South Buxton Raceway Kart Club will race every Wednesday night starting at 6:30pm.
