Long-time Blood Donors Honoured

Canadian Blood Services is giving thanks to some of its biggest contributors.

A recognition ceremony was held in Windsor for donors from Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent who have given blood at least 50 times.

Territorial Manager Maureen MacFarlane says some honourees have donated up to 200 times. "We're honouring our donors every year in May. Anyone who has hit a milestone in the previous year gets to come and get honoured."

To date, the honourees recognized at this year's event have made a total of 21,678 blood donations.
