Meat Stolen In Blenheim

Stealing meat from a grocery store has led to charges for a pair of Chatham men.

Last night, two men entered a Blenheim store and allegedly hid meat under their clothing. An alarm went off when they tried to leave the store. When they were confronted by an employee, they jumped into a waiting vehicle and took off towards Chatham.

The employee wrote down the licence plate, and police were able to track down the men and brought them in to headquarters for questioning.

The 22-year-old man driving the car gave a full video confession, saying the meat was thrown out of the car while driving to Chatham. He was later released with no criminal charges.

The 21 and 31-year-old men were charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
