Police Briefs - Thursday, May 7, 2015

A Chatham man is facing numerous charges, including impaired driving following a traffic stop.

Police stopped a vehicle on Victoria Ave. yesterday afternoon and detected the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath.

After failing a roadside test, the 53-year-old was taken to police headquarters where further tests showed he was nearly double the legal limit.

Charges included impaired driving, driving while disqualified, driving while suspended, no insurance, and un-validated permit. His vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.

A drug bust in Chatham has landed three people with charges.

The Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit and the Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a townhouse on Sandys St.

Marijuana and Fentanyl were seized, as was a number of other substances that were sent away for analysis.

Two men, a 29 and 28-year-old from Chatham, and a 20-year-old woman from Harwich are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, but more charges could be added, pending the results of the drug analysis.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
