Police Investigate Fraud Calls

Chatham-Kent police are warning the public about a fraudster claiming to be with the "Criminal Investigations Of Canada."

Police officials say an unknown male caller contacted a resident requesting money for an outstanding tax debt.

The suspect allegedly gave a badge number, case number and warrant number, demanding the monies be paid immediately.

CK police are reminding residents that officers never contact members of the public in this matter. Anyone who receives a similar call should not give out personal information, and should call police immediately.
