Getting Gordie Howe Bridge Built

Now that Windsor-Detroit's new crossing has a name, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder says work towards getting it constructed is ramping up.

He says the process of finding the people who will build the bridge -- called a request for quotation -- is the next big step.

That, and completing the purchase of lands in south-west Detroit. "We want to work with the community. We want to work on the issues through that process," explains Snyder. "We want to make sure people get paid fair value for properties as we go through this process. But we're starting that."

Snyder says the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Company staff has grown significantly over the last year, and the project is still on track to be completed by 2020.
