Man Flees Traffic Stop

Chatham-Kent police have a man in custody after he walked away from a traffic stop.

Officers say the man was a passenger in the car they pulled over on Merritt Ave. in Chatham last night. As the man walked away, officers approached him to gain his identity.

After police realized the man gave a false name and date of birth, the suspect fled on foot before he was tracked down. Police say he resisted arrest and later learned he was breaking his curfew.

The 32-year-old Raleigh Township man also faces charges that include obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.
