Police Patrolling Parks This Weekend

The Chatham-Kent OPP is ready if campers at provincial parks plan a rowdy long weekend.

Alcohol is banned at most provincial parks including Rondeau and Wheatley this weekend, but Provincial Constable Janine Belanger says they still have a history of some partying.

"If we look at last year's stats of the parks we patrol, we are looking at five to seven evictions per day," she says. "We also saw that there were 30-40 charges per day under the Trespass to Property Act, Liquor Licence Act and Provincial Parks Act."

Belanger says police will have a presence at both local parks each day of the long weekend and park wardens have full police powers to make arrests.
