Chatham Man Tasered At Rondeau

An 18-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges for an altercation with a police officer that ended with the man being Tasered.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Saturday around 6pm, a man who was previously told by police to keep out of Rondeau Provincial Park, returned to the park's entry gate. When he attempted to enter, an OPP officer spoke with the man and then attempted to place him under arrest.

Police say the man resisted and became aggressive towards the officer, who then used his controlled energy weapon -- otherwise known as a Taser -- to subdue the man and take him into custody.

James Gibson, 18, of Chatham is now charged with trespassing, uttering death threats, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to attend court on June 18.
