Uniforms Unite Topped Expectations

One of the organizers of the Uniforms Unite blood donor initiative says first responders and the public met all of her expectations.

Chatham-Kent police Constable Renee Cowell says the drive is in memory of her infant daughter who died following a heart transplant.

"On April 8, we kicked off our Uniforms Unite to Save Lives campaign, our goal is always to replace the 140 units that Bailey used while at sick kids (hospital) in Toronto," she says. "This year, on that one date, we were able to get 190 units. So we would like to thank the community."

Clinics specifically designated as part of the Uniforms Unite initiative are finished for the year, but Cowell says don't let that stop you from donating blood if you are able.
