Court Appearance For Dad Accused Of Stabbing Daughter

The man accused of repeatedly stabbing his five-year-old daughter will remain in police custody.

Andrew Hill, 38, made a brief appearance in a London court on Wednesday afternoon.  He faces one charge of attempted murder.

He hid his face in his hands and crouched down in the prisoner's box. He seemed distraught and spoke quietly to his lawyer. Hill was wearing a bright green t-shirt that read "help, I'm talking and a I can't shut up."

Hill is banned from contacting several people,  including his wife and children.

Officers were called to an Applegreen Grove home around 6am on Tuesday morning for a report of a child with multiple stab wounds. One man, who police later identified as the father, was arrested at the scene.  The girl was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition in the pediatric ward.

Neighbours tell BlackburnNews.com they were shocked to awake to police cruisers on the quiet dead-end street. They say the couple who live where the stabbing took place have four children. The mother is often playing outside with the two boys and two girls, while the father is rarely seen.

Andrew Hill will appear before a judge again on Friday morning via video from the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre.
