Via Train Hits Riding Lawnmower

A Via Rail train has collided with a John Deere riding lawnmower.

The collision occurred west of Kent Bridge Rd. near Northwood Line around 10:30am. Police say the train only clipped the tractor and there were no injuries.

Reg Bowls, 83, was riding the lawnmower and says he actually hardly felt the impact.

"The train went by, it didn't hit me but it moved me over," he says. "It damaged the lawnmower and didn't seem to have done much to me."

Bowls says he did check the tracks and didn't see a train coming but noted they travel through the area at a high rate of speed.

Via officials told BlackburnNews.com no one on the train was hurt.
