First Nation Health Care

Local medical providers are working at Walpole Island First Nation to ensure cultural and communication issues don't interfere with care.

Erie St. Clair LHIN CEO Gary Switzer says they have set up a discussion on the topic.

"We're working with Walpole and the Community Health Centre and the hospital just to understand what are the protocols when you deal with First Nations," he says. "With respect to communicating, cultural diversity, what training has been happening."

He says the parties have recently reached an agreement on communications about health care delivery.
