UPDATE: Scooter Rider Seriously Injured

A 41-year-old woman is in hospital with life threatening injuries after police say her mobility scooter was struck by a car in Blenheim.

The woman has been airlifted to London after being stabilized in Chatham, police say.

Chatham-Kent police say a Chevy Cruise travelling north on Chatham St. N struck the scooter, which was turning onto the road from Hannibal St., at about 1:30pm this afternoon.

The driver of the car was not hurt. There's no word on charges at this point.

Police say Chatham St. N will remain closed in the area for a few hours while officers investigate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
