UPDATE: Scooter Crash Turns Fatal

The woman whose mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle in Blenheim has died.

Chatham-Kent police say 41-year-old Jennie Verbeek succumbed to her injuries after being airlifted to hospital in London following yesterday's crash.

Police say a Chevy Cruise travelling north on Chatham St. N struck the scooter, which was turning onto the road from Hannibal St., at about 1:30pm yesterday.

The 33-year-old North Buxton man driving the vehicle wasn't injured.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
