Singing Her Way To The Top

A Grade 11 UCC student is hoping a recent experience in New York City will boost her blossoming singing career.

Wallaceburg's Mikayla Lozon recently won an award for a solo she performed with the school choir at a competition in Manhattan.

"Three weeks before the competition, my music teacher, Mr. Milner, asked me if I wanted to do a solo, and I said 'Sure, why not?'" says Lozon with a chuckle, adding one of the judges was from The Julliard School. "I've had some pretty professional judges, but being recognized by these judges is just unbelievable."

Lozon is now setting her sights on competing in the Rise 2 Fame contest. She made it to the semifinals of the competition last year.
