Hospital Hiring After Obstetrics Decision

Management at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital is waiting for more details from the Erie St. Clair LHIN about the future of obstetrics at the hospital.

The LHIN board decided yesterday to continue funding obstetrics, and launch an investigation into a community hub for pregnant mothers.

Hospital CEO Terry Shields still has a number of questions. "There is a lot that we need to go through with the aid of the LHIN, but we're very confident that we'll be able to offer those services here, matching the quality that we've always had."

With the unit remaining open, the hospital is now looking to replace some of the nurses they lost during the last year of uncertainty.

There is a job fair today to fill around ten nurse positions covering all departments of the hospital.
