Social Service Workers Discuss Issues

A group of front line social service workers are in Chatham-Kent for their annual convention and a software system mix-up is high on the list of items being discussed.

The Past President of the Ontario Municipal Social Services Association Catherine Matheson says the SAMS system that cut off or delayed a number of benefits is still an issue.

"Certainly there has been a lot of growth and progress over the last eight months and we've been working closely in partnership with the province," she says. "We're here to service the clients, that's what we do and certainly in the front lines you would witness the impact of service changes like that."

About 260 members are in the area.
