Wish Project Still Waiting For Approval

Priority one for Sydenham District Hospital's five new directors will be getting a new building to house its services.

The Hospital's Wish Project, which encapsulates the building upgrades, has been in the works for three years.

Board Vice-Chair Sheldon Parsons says there's a backlog at the province for hospital renewals. "Almost everyone else is in the early stages of their plans. It's a matter of whether you get in the queue, where you are in the queue, and how much federal and provincial funding is available."

Hospital officials have received approval from the Erie-St Clair LHIN, but they're waiting to hear from the minister of health for approval. The new directors were voted in at this week's Sydenham Campus' Annual General Board Meeting.
