Windsor Sets New Weather Records

As expected, Southwestern Ontario saw huge amounts of rainfall Saturday and into Sunday morning.

According to Environment Canada, as of 8am Sunday morning, Windsor saw 63.6mm (2.6 inches) of rainfall. That's a new record for Windsor Airport. This month has also been the wettest June on record for Windsor, with 177.8mm.

Severe Weather Meteorologist Rob Kuhn says this month has been cooler than normal, creating more weather systems in the area. " The jet stream has been running over the great lakes often to the south, instead of to the north as it usually does when the summer starts."

In Chatham-Kent, totals varied, but the municipality averaged around 47mm (1.85 inches) for the day. Dresden saw the most rain in CK with 52.1mm.

Belle River had the highest accumulation of rain in Southwestern Ontario Saturday, with 66.7mm of rainfall.
