Improving Student Experience In North Kent

A $2.25-million upgrade is coming to Wallaceburg District Secondary School.

Lambton Kent District School Board Director of Education Jim Costello says the enhancements were necessary after adding Grade 7 and 8.

"We're going to be revamping the library; expanding and improving it," says Costello. "We're putting in a fitness centre. And we're also doing some work outside to resurface and improve the track and field facility behind the school."

Work will begin next month and should wrap-up within a year.

Costello says work is also getting underway this summer on a new track and sports field at Lambton Kent Composite School in Dresden.

"They've never had a track facility in Dresden. And the soccer fields and baseball diamond, they've had issues with drainage and run-off and facilities not being adequate. So it became a community priority, they had a committee in place with all kinds of stakeholders and they've done a tremendous job to improve the learning environment for their students," says Costello.
