Taking Action In Tilbury

A concerned citizen's group in Tilbury is looking to make sure the town stays on Chatham-Kent Council's radar.

Tilbury Area Action Team Vice President Kathy Cottingham says since amalgamation, some residents have felt further removed from the government.

"People can bring issues, which councillors may or may not be aware of, to the forefront and they can suggest projects that they think will enhance the community," says Cottingham, adding similar groups are already in place across Chatham-Kent. "Wheatley has a concerned area citizens group and has had one for years, Merlin has one -- so for us to have one isn't unusual at all, we're following good practice."

So far, the group has already organized some free skates in the Tilbury area and gathered toys for donations at local hospitals.
