Creating Recreational Opportunities For At-Risk Youth

Chatham's East Side Pride group is financially supporting kids so they can participate in summer recreation opportunities.

Chair Marjorie Crew says they're trying to break down economical barriers for families. "If I have five kids and I want to send them swimming every day, that's a lot of money. And if I'm on a fixed income, you need somebody to break those barriers down."

Crew adds that it's important to keep at-risk youth involved, especially during summer holidays.

In addition to recreational opportunities, Crew says they also try to help families pay for more advanced levels of sports, like travel teams.
