Promoting Local Fruits and Vegetables

If you've got a yen to try some different fruits and vegetables or stock up on favourites the health unit is making it easy.

Dietician Lyndsay Davidson says again this summer the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is giving away coupons worth $10 off the cost of fresh fruits and vegetables.

"To get people eating more fruits and vegetables we know in Chatham-Kent, as we've said over and over that people don't eat fruits and vegetables, we are lowest consumers in all of Ontario even though we grow the most of it," she says. "People look forward to (the coupons) every year, before we are able to get the information out we often have calls coming in looking for them."

The coupons are valid at area farm markets and grocery stores until the end of September. For more on how to get a voucher, click here.
