High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 46-year-old Blenheim man has been seriously injured following an industrial accident just west of Talbotville in Southwold Township.
Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police says on Friday around 2:30pm, emergency crews were called to the Cargill Ltd. plant on Hwy. 3 after the worker's arm became stuck in a piece of machinery. The man had to be extricated from the machinery and was then airlifted to hospital.
He is listed in serious condition with life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to and say Cargill Ltd. is responsible for contacting the Ministry of Labour.
