Strong July Home Sales

Chatham-Kent's real estate market appears to be trending in the right direction.

Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors president Jamie Winkler says July sales were up 18% compared to the same month last year, marking the third straight month of above average activity.

"We've had some slow months and some slow years here, so this is very encouraging to see us get back on track with positive sales results," says Winkler. "The other thing to note is that we have slightly less inventory than we have had in previous years and previous months and that tends to drive the sales values up."

The price of homes sold last month rose 2.3% from July 2014, climbing to an average of $152,700.
