New Blenheim Plastics Facility

Chatham-Kent Council has approved plans for a new manufacturing facility in Blenheim.

The 80,000 sq ft. site from DJ Clarke Holdings will manufacture high-density plastics, creating up to 45 new jobs once construction is complete.

There were some concerns from residents about strong odours and noise issues near the facility. But Blenheim Councillor Karen Herman says strict regulations are in place to ensure no issues arise. "Yes we have to be cognizant of the possibilities for sounds and smells. However we're governed by the Ministry of Environment, so these usually don't occur."

The facility is expected to begin construction on Chatham St N near the Food Basics in the fall.
