Bean Field Sprouts Stolen TVs

A shoplifting complaint at the Chatham Walmart has led to an arrest and the recovery of stolen items.

Police say the man put headphones, speakers, and a pair of 19-inch TVs in a backpack and ran out the doors in the garden centre area. An alert citizen notified police and the suspect was arrested a short distance away.

The property was recovered in a nearby bean field and under a utility trailer on Pioneer Line. Total value of the goods was approximately $750.

The 24-year-old, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held pending a bail hearing.
