Sun Parlor Home Looking For Stability

A new position at Leamington's Sun Parlor Home should stabilize a nursing department in "dire need" of it, according to the long-term care facility's administrator.

Lynda Monik says a promotion had left a senior position vacant since December 2014, meaning long hours for staff.

"Everybody anted up, we all pitched in, but that's not sustainable over a long period of time," says Monik. "There's also some other regulatory and legislative responsibilities that require additional manpower to help us."

The new assistant director of nursing position will take over the vacant job, but will add another $23,000 to the payroll.

"Most homes this size, that care for 206 residents, will have two assistant directors of nursing so that also played into our decision," says Monik.

A job ad is expected to be out before the end of August.
