Torrie Now Scouting The Pros

Local hockey scout Dave Torrie is moving from the Buffalo Sabres to the LA Kings, but he's not moving out of Chatham.

Torrie is joining the Kings as a pro scout after spending the past four years with Buffalo where he served as the head amateur scout since 2013.

"There was an opportunity as my contract was expiring and I had the choice to return to Buffalo or to look at some other positions and I chose to pursue this opportunity with LA," says Torrie. "It's a real change for me after scouting younger players to go over to the pro side and look at that aspect."

Torrie says he'll still be living in Chatham as he starts the new job.

"It was one of the key things that we were looking at as we looked at some opportunities," says Torrie. "We moved away for eight years when I was a GM in the OHL and it was a good experience, but after a time it's just a comfort here."

Torrie says he'll be focusing on ten NHL teams and their AHL affiliates -- mostly on the east coast of the U.S.
