Green Party Stresses Fiscal Strength

Green Party candidates in both the Chatham-Kent Leamington, and Lambton Kent Middlesex ridings are hoping to stress fiscal responsibility during the campaign.

Lambton Kent Middlesex candidate Jim Johnston believes they could attract a lot of swing votes, saying they are the natural party of disenfranchised Conservatives. "The Green Party fiscal policies are very conservative in nature, they call for balanced budgets, they call for net neutral taxation," he says. Chatham-Kent Leamington Green candidate Mark Vercouteren agrees they could pick up swing votes. "I notice a lot of anti-Harper resentment and since we are the party of small businesses I believe that is where we are going to have a lot of growth coming," he says. Johnston stresses the party is trying to convince people it has a wide ranging policy platform.
