Derek Drouin Wins High Jump Gold Medal In Beijing

Corunna's Derek Drouin won the high jump gold medal at the 2015 World Track and Field Championships in Beijing Sunday, becoming the first Canadian to win the event.

The 25-year-old Drouin was involved in a three-man jump off for the medals and was the only athlete to clear 2.34 m, after the bar was lowered from 2.36 m.

China's Zseng Guowei and Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko shared silver.

Drouin won bronze at both the 2012 Olympics and 2013 world championships, and then last month captured gold at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
