Help Wanted At Black Historical Society

Chatham-Kent's Black Historical Society is searching for a new executive director.

The director would be responsible for setting up tours, and assuming day-to-day operations of the facility. They'd also work to best compliment the Buxton National Historic Site, and Uncle Tom's Cabin in Dresden.

Historical Interpreter TJ Brown wants the public to know there's more to Canadian black history, aside from Harriet Tubman bringing people here through the Underground Railroad.

"A number of people settled here because there was plenty of land, being able to operate their own businesses. The east side of the city was sort of where our black history started," says Brown.

Applications can be handed in until September 4. Brown says interviews will take place after that, with a new executive director starting by September 28.
