UPDATE: Crash Involves Three Transports

Charges have been laid in the three-vehicle collision that shut down the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 early this morning.

Just after midnight, police had stopped traffic near Queen's Line to help to remove a disabled vehicle.

Two tractor-trailers were stopped when a third transport struck one of the tractor-trailers, causing it to surge ahead and hit the first transport.

A 56-year-old man from Brampton, who suffered minor injuries, has been charged with careless driving.

No one else was hurt in the accident, but all three tractor-trailers suffered minor damage.

The highway reported shortly before 6am.
