CP Switch Damaged

A Chatham man is facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing copper wire from a CP Rail switch.

Around 2:45am this morning, a CP Rail employee called police after discovering $300 worth of wire missing and a damaged switch, which could of caused trains to stop abruptly.

Officers followed a path through a neighbouring wheat field and discovered the suspect lying on his stomach trying to hide.

A search of the 23-year-old found he was allegedly in possession of bolt cutters, three knives, and methamphetamine. He was also bound by a curfew and under conditions to not possess drugs or weapons.

He's been charged with mischief endangering life, theft, possession of break-in instruments, drug possession and three counts of failing to comply.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
