Hundreds Attend Leamington Community Celebration

Hundreds of people packed the parking lot in front of Leamington District Memorial Hospital for a community celebration put on by the hospital.

According to officials, part of the event was about saying thank you to the community for their support after they put pressure on the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network to keep services in Leamington.

Resident Rose Ageitos says the hospital needs to keep vital services.

"The level of resources means that we actually get the care that our children, or we as adults, need," she says. "Most of the people in our community don't have the luxury of driving off to Windsor."

Hospital CEO Terry Shields also wanted to promote new partnerships the hospital is making.

There are now 18 different agencies offering 23 new programs inside the hospital building.

"Those programs before struggled to exist below County Rd. 8, or in this community at all," says Shields.
