Spits Defenceman Signs NHL Deal

Windsor Spitfires defenceman Trevor Murphy is now a member of the Nashville Predators.

The 20-year-old has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL franchise.

Murphy was acquired by Windsor in 2012, from Peterborough.  Since then, he's put up 116 points (39 goals) in 152 games.

Spits GM Warren Rychel says it's a big loss for his club, but he's happy to see one of his players realize a dream.

"We lose our best player and arguably the best defenceman in the league," he explains. "On the other hand, it's an opportunity for others to step up."
