WDSS Upgrades Altering Sports Scheds

Construction on the sports field at Wallaceburg District Secondary School will affect some team schedules.

Principal Rob Lee says the Sr. Football team will essentially play away games.

"So we're prepared to play our games on other fields this year," says Lee. "I know the coach has coordinated that and I believe most of the games will probably be played in the other teams field to allow the kids to participate and be able to continue."

Lee says the field won't be used until next September to give the grass enough time to get a firm hold on the ground.

The Jr. football team and Sr. Girls rugby teams will also have to play on other fields in the spring, while soccer is usually played on community fields and won't be affected.

Lee says $2.25-million worth of renovations won't affect the track team because they don't need the field in the spring.
