The walk which raises funds to the local branch of the SPCA attracted 50 on-line registrations but the weather kept some people away.
All proceeds from the walk will help animals in Chatham-Kent.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
The $7.6 million project, which also involved water and sewer infrastructure improvements, began in 2024.
