Terry Fox Run Marks 35th Year

Hundreds of participants came out to to raise thousands of dollars during the 35th annual Terry Fox Run in the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent communities.

On Sunday, around 200 community members in Chatham marked the milestone year raising $18,865, with the total expected to rise with an online auction that closes on Tuesday. Organizers are hopeful the final amount will be closer to $20,000.

In Tilbury, 160 participants and volunteers raised $13,019, with more money expected to roll in over the next few weeks.

In Ridgetown, the run attracted about 190 participants who raised a total of $7,101.

Dresden's Terry Fox event was able to raise $37,429 with 383 people participating.

Organizers in Blenheim say they raised approximately $28,000.

And in Tecumseh, the run raised $85,322 with around 1,500 people participating. The town has now raised over $500,000 in the last ten years for the Terry Fox Run. The annual Terry Fox Giant Used Book Sale also eclipsed it's totals, with the store raising $22,409 during the three days it was open.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
