Michael Vieira had a goal and an assist for the 73's, who were coming off a weekend loss to Amherstburg,. Teammate Trevor Wheaton made 35 saves to pick up the win.
Derek Daly scored the Kings long goal.
Essex is off until next Tuesday when they host Blenheim. Dresden is back on the ice on Friday when they host the Blades.
