Brodie Out With Broken Hand

Calgary Flames defenceman T.J. Brodie is out with a broken hand.

The Chatham native suffered the injury blocking a shot during the Flames exhibition game on Monday night.

Brodie says it's not the way he wanted to start the season.

"You know, there's nothing you can do about it now," says Brodie. "Just try to stay in shape and heal up as quick as possible and be ready for when I can come back."

But Brodie says the one good thing is that he can still skate.

"Let's me stay on the ice, and skate and keep the conditioning up," says Brodie. "I think everything else, it's just going to be, take it week-by-week and hopefully it heals up as soon as it can."

The Flames say Brodie is week-to-week and that he will be out three to six weeks.
