Gardening Show Host Retires

A Chatham-Kent horticultural and radio legend steps away from the mic for the last time today.

Formerly serving as superintendent for parks in Chatham, Bill Pachkowski has been heard on AM630 CFCO for the last 30 years as the host of "Let's Talk Gardening."

His last show is Saturday, September 26, 2015.

Pachkowski says it's been a learning experience for him and his listeners.

"The climate is different in Chatham-Kent than probably anywhere else in Ontario. The growing conditions are fantastic. People are real gardeners in CK, I've been quite surprised with the number of calls over the years," he says.

Pachkowski started while the original host from Hamilton, Ontario would come to do the show. He did a couple shifts here and there before taking over after the old host retired. Facing retirement himself, he says he's looking forward to gardening on his own time, as well as golfing and going to his cottage.
