Axe & Bat Assault In Wallaceburg

An incident in Wallaceburg involving a baseball bat and an axe has landed a couple with assault charges.

Chatham-Kent police say the man and woman texted a family member on Friday accusing him of theft.

Later that day they showed up at his home, where police say the woman hit him in the legs with the bat multiple times before smashing two windows in his vehicle.

Her companion then allegedly threw an axe, narrowly missing the man, before fleeing the area.

On Sunday night around 9pm the 28-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both from Muirkirk, were taken into custody and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief.

They were released pending future court dates.
