Crews responded to the blaze on Talbot Trail just south of Blenheim at a four-unit residential home.
Chatham-Kent fire officials believe clothes left on a heater are what caused the fire.
Officials are also not reporting any injuries as a result of the blaze.
Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
