Library Membership And Wifi Use Up

Chatham-Kent Public Library officials are seeing positives in some figures they kept track of in the last year.

CK Library Officials wanted to make attracting new membership a priority in 2014. They were able to accomplish that by bringing in nearly 3,300 new members, a 36% increase from the year before. In total, CKL branches also receive over 7,000 visitors every week.

However, programming attendance is down. While the library's 2,676 programs were an 8% increase compared to 2013, the total attendance for those programs was down 12%.

Officials are also seeing a change in internet usage. They say wireless internet use in their branching has increased by 17%, while computer workstation use is decreasing. This points to a larger number of visitors bringing their own electronic devices to use at the library.
