Wind Causes Erosion, Cancels Ferry

High wind in the region could cause shoreline erosion along parts of the Leamington, Kingsville and Pelee Island shorelines.

Wind gusts locally are expected to top 70 km/h, which ERCA officials say could cause near shore soil loss and erosion with wave overtopping and spray.

The main areas of impact could be the west side Leamington, west side of Point Pelee National Park and the east portions of Kingsville. Also, the west and south shorelines of Pelee Island could get wave damage.

Because of the wind the Pelee Island Transportation company has cancelled ferry trips to the island through the day. They plan to update the travel schedule before the evening crossing.
