Province Reaches Deal With Support Staff

The province and 55,000 support staff workers have reached a tentative deal, according to a release from CUPE.

As a result, the the union says it is calling for an end to its province-wide work to rule campaign.

Details of the settlement will not be released until members have had the opportunity to review the terms and conduct ratification votes.

The tentative agreement covers central issues negotiated on behalf of education workers in all four school board systems. Local negotiations are still ongoing between union locals and individual school boards.

CUPE represents educational assistants, custodians, office administrators and early childhood educators at boards across the province.
