Suspected Drug Lab Causes Explosion

Three Chatham residents are facing charges in connection with an explosion on Bedford St. back in September.

Chatham-Kent police say they believe the explosion on September 25 was caused by someone who was operating a cannabis marijuana extraction lab.

Two people were injured as a result of the explosion and the subsequent fire. They were transported to the burn unit at Hamilton General Hospital for medical attention and have since been released.

During their investigation, officers seized some marijuana and some cannabis resin with an estimated street value of just over $1.1-million.

Three people are now facing drug-related charges. Two of them are also charged with arson.
