A Thamesville resident isn't slowing his campaign to end bullying, 17 years after the death of his son.
Mike Neuts spent time at some Toronto area schools this week, fulfilling their request for a public speaking engagement.
In the time since his son Myles died, Neuts has helped lead the charge to educate and support children through his Make Children Better Now Association.
"We do golf tournaments, we did a gala this year, we applied for grants, I housed The Respect Revolution, I have co-op students, I do whatever I can do to help kids," says Neuts. "To be quite blunt," Neuts pauses to keep his composure before continuing in a broken voice, "it's therapeutic for me as well."
Neuts says he never turns down a public speaking engagement and consistently meets children who willingly open up to him with their own difficult situations.
He's speaking at W.J. Baird Public School in Blenheim this morning, as part of National Bullying Awareness Week.
Myles Neuts, 10, was found hanging from a coat hook at a Chatham elementary school in 1998.
The tragedy led his father to have a collapsible coat hook designed and installed in some school board and arena change rooms across the country.
